Landscapes shaped by light, shadow and silence

Black & White Fine Art Photography
For me, black and white photography is about seeing beyond the obvious. Removing colour allows light, form and texture to speak for themselves, revealing a landscape's quieter, often overlooked character.
I am drawn to the fleeting moments when the familiar becomes unfamiliar. Mist drifting through woodland, the last light catching a distant hillside, or shadows quietly reshaping the land. Often, it is the atmosphere rather than the place itself that inspires me.
Light and shadow are at the heart of my work. I seek richness and subtlety in the tones, allowing darkness to hold its secrets without surrendering the detail within. Composition is instinctive, guided by a sense of balance and the belief that what is left unsaid can be as important as what is revealed.
My photographs are interpretations rather than records of a place. I am less interested in showing the landscape as it is, and more interested in expressing how it feels.
Ultimately, I hope to create images that encourage the viewer to pause, to look a little longer, and perhaps find something of their own within the shadows.
